Code Red posts shutout wins

California Futbol Club’s Code Red, a girls’ under-13 team, will enter

postseason play on a roll.

Code Red capped its spring regular season with a pair of 3-0

victories over Irvine Rush and Futbol Club Bayern.

Code Red began the two-game stretch by blanking Irvine Rush. Erika

Longoria scored in the first few minutes on a solo run. She added

another goal, set up by assists from Breanne Justice and Rebecca

Cruz.

Alison Hensley finished off the scoring with an arcing shot from

outside the penalty area.

Code Red found itself in a tough match against Futbol Club Bayern,

before using a second half splurge to win going away. The teams were

locked in a scoreless tie at the half, neither able to convert their

first half scoring opportunities.

In the second half, Code Red went up for good when Longoria took

the ball at midfield and worked her way through a host of defenders

to score the first goal. That score quickly was followed by a

ricocheted shot put in by Rachel Pasternak, with Kirsten Marony and

Rebecca Cruz assisting on the play.

Lauren Hanson completed the scoring off a passing sequence from

Pasternak and Cruz.

Osiris Ceja, Alli Budd, and Breanne Justice provided strong

midfield support, both on offense and defense.

The defensive efforts of keeper Tiffany Van Tress, George Demes,

Jodi Hwang, Ashley Haprov and Danica McGuire held Bayern scoreless

for the remainder of the game.

Code Red will participate in the Spring Soccer Cup, which begins

Saturday.
