Breakers still fourth in volleyball poll
For the second straight week, the Laguna Beach High boys’
volleyball team has held down the No. 4 ranking in the CIF-Southern
Section Division II poll.
For the first time this season, there is a new No. 1 in the poll
-- Santa Barbara.
The Dons replaced season-long leader Valencia of Valencia in the
top spot.
For the second time in as many weeks, Corona del Mar is ranked
third in the poll.
Tesoro, also of the Pacific Coast League, moved into the No. 5
slot.
The Division II rankings: 1. Santa Barbara; 2. Valencia/Valencia;
3. Corona del Mar; 4. Laguna Beach; 5. Tesoro; 6. Dos Pueblos; 7. San
Marcos; 8. Saugus; 9. Canyon/Canyon Country; 10. Arcadia.
Dates for annual city tennis event near
Registration is still being taken for the 48th Annual City of
Laguna Beach Tennis Tournament.
The two-weekend event will be held May 14-15 and May 21-22, at
Alta Laguna Park.
The registration deadline for player entry is May 4.
Competition will be held in divisions Open through 3.5 in singles,
doubles and mixed doubles.

Next Junior Challenger Series event in May
The next Laguna Beach Junior Challenger Series round robin
tournament will be held May 22, at Alta Laguna Park.
Play begins at 2:30 p.m. and is open to players 10 through 14, at
a cost of $25 per player.
Registration is taken through Laguna Beach Community Services, 515
Forest Ave., and deadline entry is by 4 p.m. on Thurs., May 18.
Players sought for local girls’ tennis team
Any 12-and-under girl who would like to play junior team tennis is
