River trail access to be limited

Access to the Santa Ana River trail will be limited this week by

construction activities.

Visitors will not be able to access the trail from Garfield Avenue

while crews with the Orange County Transportation Authority work

nearby to construct a 13-mile pipeline from Fountain Valley to

Anaheim. The pipeline will transport highly-treated sewage water from

the Orange County Sanitation District and deliver it to an aquifer,

where it will eventually percolate back into the groundwater basin.

In order to complete the construction near an OCSD pumping

facility, the Garfield access route will be temporarily closed.

Visitors can still access the trail from Adams Avenue to the south

and Talbert Avenue to the north. The Garfield access point should be

reopened by Monday.

Carnival of Health

for families, seniors

Four Seasons Surgery Center of Huntington Beach will be hosting a

health fair for low-income families and seniors in the area. The

Carnival of Health will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the

parking lot at 17752 Beach Blvd., site of the recently purchased

Outpatient Surgery Center.

Medical staff will be present to give free health screenings to

check vision, hearing, glucose levels, lung capacity, blood pressure,

weight, body-fat analysis and bone density, and free dental exams for

children.

In addition to the screenings, Four Seasons has invited local

nonprofit agencies to bring information on the services they provide.

Families are encouraged to bring their children to the fair to

play in the bounce house and interact with clowns and a magician.
