Jeffrey A. Goffman of Corona del Mar, founder of OnCure Medical
Group, was recently appointed to the American Cancer Society Orange
County Regional Board of Directors. OnCure is one of the largest
providers of outpatient radiology oncology care in the United States.
The Orange Coast College speech and debate team finished fifth at
the Phi Rho Pi National Speech and Debate Tournament, held April 10
to 16 in Philadelphia. All 14 members of the school’s team brought
home at least one medal in the competition. The team’s members are:
Patrick Seaborn and Jeremiah Pfaff of Newport Beach; Nathan Goodrich,
Tim Zimmer, Raffaela Sansone, Josh Cobo and Alyssa Reid of Costa
Mesa; Verity Fletcher, Leah Best and Nicolle Carpenter of Irvine;
Sean Coutu, Erin McAlear and Gloria Tran of Huntington Beach; and
Laura Miller of Lake Forest.
Mark, Page and Megan Keys of Costa Mesa were the winners of a
contest on Balboa Island to find the best phrase to display on the
marquee of the island bridge. The Keys are pictured above with their
winning slogan, “Need a smile? Walk a mile on Bal Isle.”
Navy Fireman Natalie T. Jones, daughter of Delta J. Tereschuck of
Orange and Wayne R. Jones of Costa Mesa, recently departed on a
scheduled deployment to the Mediterranean Sea while assigned to the
guided missile destroyer Gonzalez, home-ported in Norfolk, Va. Jones
joined the Navy in July 2003.
Ann Crane of Corona del Mar was honored for her volunteer work
with the Girl Scout Council of Orange County at a gala evening on
April 22, at the Disneyland Hotel Grand Ballroom.
Crane received the Thanks Badge, one of the two highest volunteer
awards established by Girl Scouts of the United States. The Thanks
Badge is reserved to honor volunteers whose service has been truly
outstanding and so significantly over and above the call of duty that
no other award would be appropriate.
Crane has been contributing her time and considerable
organizational talents to the Girl Scout Council of Orange County
board of directors since 2003.
