Police arrest two men in assault, stabbing
Police arrested two men Saturday night in connection with the
stabbing and beating of a Costa Mesa man described as their friend.
The victim, a 20-year-old man who has not been identified, was at
the home of friends in the 1900 block of Monrovia Avenue when he got
into an argument with the two men, Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Bob Ciszek
said. He was stabbed with a small, folding pocket knife and ran to
his home in the next block, Ciszek said.
The two suspects allegedly followed him there and struck him in
the head with a baseball bat. Police recovered the knife and bat at
the scene.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover
from his injuries, Ciszek said. Alcohol may have been a factor, he
said.
Police arrested Costa Mesa residents Angel Hilario Martinez-Cruz,
28, and Leovijido Ventura-Cruz, 21, on suspicion of assault with a
deadly weapon and attempted murder. They are being held in lieu of
$500,000 bail, Ciszek said.
