News-making
attorney steps up
Attorney Ted Albert, founding partner of the Costa Mesa law firm
Albert, Weiland & Golden, LLP, has been appointed to the 9th Circuit
Court of Appeals Bankruptcy Court.
Albert is scheduled to start his 14-year term June 1 in Los
Angeles.
In 1993, Albert served as a court-appointed bankruptcy attorney to
track down items purchased by Stephen Wagner, who embezzled nearly $4
million from the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.
Wagner pleaded guilty to his crimes in 1992 and was sentenced in
1994. Wagner died in jail of complications related to AIDS less than
two years after his sentencing.
Real estate team adds luxury division
Coldwell Banker Orange County president Peter Hernandez announced
last week the creation of a new luxury real estate division, called
Coldwell Banker Previews International.
The new name is the result of Coldwell Banker’s consolidation of
real estate companies already owned by the firm.
Coldwell Banker merged with high-end real estate company Strada
Properties in 2003 and Coast Newport Properties in 1999. Hernandez
said there were no personnel changes associated with combining the
three companies’ resources into a new division. The division will
have its own logo and signs, Hernandez said.
