One of 466 boats beats 20 hours

The 58th annual International Newport to Ensenada Yacht Race
concluded Saturday with only one of the 466 entries finishing in less
than 20 hours.
The race, which began Friday at noon in Newport Beach, included 23
different classes of vessels, but it was David Lott in Ludwig, his
PHRF Class G yacht who was first to finish in 18 hours, 53 minutes,
34 seconds.
The Peligroso, in the Maxi class finished in 20:34:51 for the next
fastest time.
Wayne Noerker skippered the Sabrosa, a PHRF Class C vessel, which
finished in 21:37:09.
Randy Reynolds skippered Cat Attack, an ORCA class entry, to a
finish in 21:37:53.
Tom Jones and Michael Kennedy were the skippers on Torea, a PHRF
Class K that finished in 22:03:04.
David Brown’s J-Hawk, competing in Sprit Class A finished in
22:05:5.
Campaign II, skippered by James Devling and competing in the PHRF
Class J, finished in 22:16:19.
Carolyn and Sandra Sherman skippered the Sea Maiden, competing in
the PHRF Class J to the finish line in 22:22.46.
Alan Harbour, skipper of Whistle Wind, competing in the PHRF Class
B, finished in 22:32:54.
The Horizon skippered by Jack Taylor and competing in PHRF Class
A, finished in 22:38:19.
Larry Spencer skippered Blue Star, a PHRF Class F entry that
finished in 22:41:56.
