Chen wins, again
Josh Chen and Ryan Babbush both shot 4-over par 40 to share medalist
honors and lead the host Sage Hill School boys golf team to a 218-248
Academy League victory over Whitney Tuesday at Strawberry Farms Golf
Club.
Tuesday marked the eighth time Chen has been medalist this season
and third consecutive match. Both John Neff and Geoffrey Grant shot
45 while Will Rigby scored 48 for the Lightning (7-2, 4-0 in league),
tied for first with St. Margaret’s.
Sage plays host to Fairmont Prep at 3:15 p.m. today at Strawberry
Farms.
Wolverines top Sailors
Newport Harbor High’s boys golf team fell to visiting Aliso
Niguel, 196-204, in Sea View League play Tuesday at Big Canyon
Country Club.
Senior Davis Pemstein shot 3-over par 39 to lead the Sailors (9-8,
4-3 in league) but the undefeated Wolverines (19-0, 7-0) eked out the
victory as Shane Lyznicki shot 36 to earn medalist laurels.
Senior Rhett Palmer shot 40, while Paul Ness (41), Justin Morehead
(41) and Spencer Quinn (43) scored for the Sailors, who host Irvine
at 3 p.m. Thursday at Big Canyon.
Uni ekes out win
The visiting Corona del Mar High boys golf team fell to
University, 196-210, in a Pacific Coast League match Tuesday at
Rancho San Joaquin Golf Club in Irvine.
University’s Josh Zappian and Tim Jones both shot 1-over par 37 to split medalist honors, while senior Matt Story led the Sea Kings
(5-6, 3-4 in league) with 39. Jamie Bloom (42), Ben Tilsen (43), Jack
Francis (43) and Zach Rabinovich (43) scored for CdM.
CdM plays host to Laguna Beach at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Newport
Beach Country Club.
