Officer sustains minor injuries in accident

An on-duty Huntington Beach police officer sustained minor

injuries in an accident that happened in Costa Mesa at 4:20 p.m.

Sunday, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

The officer was heading northbound on Superior Avenue when a Red

Ford Ranger, heading southbound, attempted to turn left into a public

driveway just south of 17th Street and collided with the police

motorcycle, said Sgt. Zach Hoferitza of the Costa Mesa Police

Department.

The Huntington Beach police officer was treated and released from

Hoag Hospital for minor injuries to his arms and legs. The driver of

the Red pickup was given a failure to yield citation, Hoferitza said.
