Businesses and cars vandalized
Vandals attacked eight businesses and 10 vehicles across the city
on Tuesday, using either a small-caliber pellet gun or BB gun, police
said.
Police responded to a call that a tow truck was shot with five
pellets at 5:47 a.m. Tuesday at the To’ and Mo’ tow yard on Laguna
Canyon Road. The sound of breaking glass awoke an employee, police
said. Witnesses in the area reported seeing a dark, two-door Honda
sedan leave the scene, police said.
Businesses and cars located along South Coast Highway, Mountain
Street, Cress Street, Glenneyre Street and Laguna Canyon Road were
also reported vandalized.
Additional incidents, similar in nature, were reported in Dana
Point and Laguna Niguel and police said they believe they are
related.
“We’re taking it very seriously,” said Capt. Danell Adams.
Police are working on enhancing a video surveillance photo taken
of the vehicle seen leaving the area of the tow yard Tuesday morning,
Adams said.
Laguna resident
is still missing
Police are looking for Laguna Beach resident Lenore Devlin, who
has been missing since October or November 2004, police said.
Devlin, 60, moved out of her South Laguna condo and did not notify
her family or friends, police said.
Apparently, Devlin was last seen at a bus stop along South Coast
Highway near Wesley Drive in late December 2004, police said.
Anyone with information about Devlin or her whereabouts is
encouraged to call Laguna Beach Police Detective Matt August at (949)
497-0371.
Officers honored
for DUI arrests
Three members of the Laguna Beach Police Department were honored
with a Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Century Award at the
Nixon Library Wednesday for making 100 or more DUI arrests last year.
Jenny Jones, George Ramos and Tony White were each recipients of
the award.
Fire Department appoints new chief
The Laguna Beach Fire Department has appointed Battalion Chief
Jeff LaTendresse to the position of division chief.
The newly-appointed division chief will continue his duties as
battalion chief, but will now be the single point of contact in the
absence of the fire chief.
LaTendresse has more than 25 years of experience in fire service
and has served as battalion chief with the Laguna Beach Fire
Department since April 2000.
LaTendresse lives in Laguna with his wife Mindy, daughter Bri and
