Huntington Beach eighth-grader earns a trip to the Big Apple
- Share via
Time Warner Cable and Bravo, an arts and entertainment cable
television network, have chosen Huntington Beach resident Alexis
Sweeney as a winner in the nationwide competition called Bravo on
With the Show.
Sweeney, an eighth-grader at Orange County School of the Arts,
will join fellow winners in New York City to perform in front of a
live audience on Broadway. Bravo on With the Show is a national
contest that seeks to raise the awareness of the positive impact of
theater participation on young people, while recognizing participants
and supporters who make a difference.
This month, Sweeney will travel to New York City and participate
in three days of intense theatrical training under the guidance of
professional Broadway actors, choreographers and directors. The
culmination of her training will be a final performance in front of a
live audience on a Broadway stage on Monday.
In addition to sending Sweeney to New York, Time Warner Cable and
Bravo will donate $1,000 to the Orange County School of the Arts to
fund the school’s arts programs.
