Costa Mesa needs to get roads working
I commute through the city of Costa Mesa to work every day. The
traffic signals are always out of sync, causing unnecessary,
bumper-to-bumper traffic on Newport Boulevard. You can wait at a
light for 3 minutes with only a few cars going through the
intersection the other way. One morning the traffic was stopped
almost to Newport Beach. It was so bad I thought there was an
accident. But there was no accident -- they obviously shortened the
length of the green lights for traffic passing through.
In addition they never repair the potholes and I find myself
trying to dodge them to prevent damage to my vehicle. This is not
only irritating but dangerous.
What is their problem?

‘In Theory’ poorly timed after funeral
Your last “In Theory” related to Pope John Paul II and his legacy.
You had four responses, two by a minister and one by a rabbi, and I
must say I enjoyed the two ministers’ and the one rabbi’s writing.
However, I thought that Deborah Barrett’s article was very
negative, and I’m shocked that you would even put it in the paper.
The pope was buried on Friday and here I am reading on Saturday how
terrible and how negative and how harmful he was to the Roman
Catholic Church and to all society. I can’t believe that she is a
minister ... she is certainly not a positive person.
I’m really shocked that she would write something of this nature.
It’s just a very poor article and I would hope that the Daily
Pilot would not print any more trash like that regarding negativity
after people have died.

Waiting to hear more about highway work
We’ve embarked on a project in Corona del Mar through our whole
town related to the beautification of East Coast Highway, and there’s
a horrible traffic mess, and the Daily Pilot continues to cover the
very important Costa Mesa Job Center topic, but we’ve had no detail
other than small paragraphs on a project that’s going to impact so
many residents. The timing of it is very difficult for most, and
there’s no way to get through our town.
Evidently, I don’t have much detail, but this is going to run
through August, and we need to figure this out because there’s no way
to get through Corona del Mar. I hope to hear more details from our
daily paper.
