Here are some items the Planning Commission considered Thursday.

OCEAN BOULEVARD HEIGHT LIMIT

Homeowners Doug and Sandi Jackson had requested permission to

build a garage that is 2 1/2 feet taller than the height limit on

Ocean Boulevard in Corona del Mar. They’re building a new home on the

bluff side, which can’t be higher than the curb on the street above.

The city uses the curb height limit to keep homes from blocking

public views of the ocean from Ocean Boulevard. The commission did

not vote on the taller garage because the Jacksons have withdrawn

their request.

WHAT IT MEANS

The new home on the bluff will not be taller than the Ocean

Boulevard curb height.

WINERY PRODUCTION

AND SALES

The Newport Beach Vineyard and Winery, the only wine production

facility in the city, wants to supplement crops grown on-site with

imported grapes to keep production levels steady. The city planning

director told vineyard owner Richard Moriarty his existing permit

doesn’t allow him to import grapes, so Moriarty appealed to the

Planning Commission. He also wants permission to sell wine at farmers

markets and online. The commission decided last week to continue the

item to later this month.

WHAT IT MEANS

The commission will address the appeal on April 21.
