GREEN THUMB GET-TOGETHER
The 16th annual Southern California Spring Garden Show will begin
Thursday and close Sunday. More than 75 gardening vendors will sell
goods at the event, and gardening experts are scheduled share tips.
Children will be able to see miniature landscapes designed by other
youngsters, make crafts and watch animal shows. The event will be
held at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. Information: (714) 435-2000.
LATINO YOUTH CONFERENCE SET
UC Irvine’s Community Outreach Partnership Center will hold its
eighth annual Latino Youth Conference on Tuesday at Aldrich Park.
Aldrich Park is in the center of the UC Irvine campus, inside Ring
Road. The event lasts from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Information: (949)

LIBRARY WILL HOST ANNUAL POETRY SLAM
As part of National Library Week, the Newport Beach Central
Library is hosting its second annual poetry slam Tuesday from 7 to
8:30 p.m. at 1000 Avocado Ave. Students in seventh through 12th

EARTH DAY EVENT SET FOR FAIRVIEW PARK
Be kind to the earth this Saturday at the annual Earth Day in the
Park celebration at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa.Games, crafts and
food also will be offered at the event, which lasts from 9 a.m. to

BUTTERFLY HOUSE OPENS SUNDAY
Butterflies will flit through the new Butterfly House at The
Environmental Nature Center when it opens Sunday.
The house, a gift from the Rotary Clubs of Newport Beach and
sister city Okazaki, Japan, will house about a dozen species of
butterflies native to Orange County. The opening will include crafts
and the sale of nectar plants.
The grand opening will take place Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at
the Environmental Nature Center, 1601 16th St. in Newport Beach. For
