The Laguna Beach Coastline Pilot went to Top of the World Elementary

School and asked students in Peggy Lynch’s third-grade class, ‘What

do you like about poetry?’

“I like poetry because sometimes it makes me feel sad, sometimes

happy and sometimes kind of strange.”

words inside of it.”

“I like the way people use their imaginations to make things sound

good.”

“I like rhyming lots of stuff and how it’s kind of hard to think

of it. I use my imagination on different kinds of things.”

JORDAN GETCHELL, 8

“Poetry is good with lots of rhymes. Sometimes I know if it’s

poetry or not -- Dr. Seuss has lots of rhymes and a little poetry.”
