City track meet to be run Saturday
The City of Laguna Beach’s Youth Track Meet will be run Saturday
at Laguna Beach High’s Guyer Field.
The day begins with an 8 a.m. registration period, followed by the
start of the meet at 8:30 a.m.
Children born in 1990 or after who reside and attend school within
the Laguna Beach Unified School District boundaries are eligible to
compete in a variety of running and fielding events.
Preregistration can be done by 4:30 p.m. today at the city
recreation department. The cost is $10. The cost to register Saturday
is $15.
First- through fourth-place finishers qualify for the Orange
County Municipal Athletic Assn. Meet on May 1 at Trabuco Hills High
School.

Laguna Beach volleyball still third
The Laguna Beach High boys’ volleyball team continues to hold down
a lofty ranking in the CIF Southern Section Division II poll released
by the Southern Section office in Los Alamitos Tuesday.
The Breakers again come in at No. 3 and trail top-ranked Valencia,
the division’s defending champion, and No. 2 Santa Barbara.
Right behind Laguna once again at No. 4 in the rankings is Pacific
Coast League rival Corona del Mar.
Tesoro, another Pacific Coast League member, is ranked seventh.
Northwood, which previously had been ranked, fell out of the top
10.
The Division II poll is as follows: 1. Valencia/Valencia; 2. Santa
Barbara; 3. Laguna Beach; 4. Corona del Mar; 5. Santa Ynez; 6.
Canyon/Canyon Country; 7. Tesoro; 8. Arcadia; 9. San Luis Obispo; 10.
Dos Pueblos.
City to host upcoming events
Laguna Beach will host the next Junior Challenger Tennis Series
event with a round-robin tournament April 17 at Alta Laguna Park.
The tournament is open to players in division 8-and-under through
14-and-under.
Players can register with the Laguna Beach Community Department,
or by sending an e-mail to [email protected] for match times
and details.
In other tennis news, the Laguna Beach USA Junior Team Tennis
12-and-under and 14-and-under advanced teams are seeking female
players.

The 48th Annual City of Laguna Beach Tennis Tournament has
announced that tournament play will be held the weekends of May 14-15
and May 21-22 at Alta Laguna Park.
The tournament is open to division Open through 3.5.
