FRIDAY

A collectors afternoon at Bayside Restaurant, where avid art

collectors may join Carolyn Reynolds and Gabriel Burchman, mother and

son artist duo, in a unique art exhibit. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres

and fine wine will be served. The event will be held from 3 p.m. to

5 p.m. at the Bayside Restaurant, 900 Bayside Dr., Newport Beach.

Join Doug Hansen as he runs/jogs/walks for 24 hours to raise

awareness and money to help improve the lives of children with

multiple birth defects. The 2nd Annual “Angel’s Run,” an event to

raise money for Angel’s Charity, which was started by Hansen in 2003,

will be held from 5 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Newport

Harbor High School Track and Field, 600 Irvine Ave., Newport Beach.

Everyone is encouraged to come out and do a lap or two. Come out and

learn about Angel’s Charity, along with a variety of other nonprofit

organizations, community resources and local businesses. There will

SATURDAY

“Tin Can Metaphor” is an exhibit featuring a collection of works

from six artists. The artists - Joseph Banuelos, Michelle Banuelos,

Barbara Schuppe, Rob Sexton, Bill Thompson and DeAnne Williamson --

will interpret the meaning of the title, each in different media. The

show will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bradford Gallery,

355 Old Newport Blvd., Newport Beach.

“A Day in the Park,” the Orange County Assn. for the Education of

Young Children, along with the City of Costa Mesa Child Care and

Youth Services Committee, present a day filled with storytelling, art

and games, children’s performances and community resources from 10

a.m. to 1 p.m. at TeWinkle Memorial Park, 970 Arlington Ave., Costa

The Orange Coast College

Marine Science Department is hosting a public open house to show

off its large cold and warm-water aquariums. Exhibits and

presentations will include oceanographic instruments and equipment;

live animals from the sea; question and answer sessions with

students; demonstrations; displays of scuba gear, sharks, marine

mammals and fish and live “touch tanks.” Activities will begin at 10

a.m. in the Marine Science Lab, Room 117 of OCC’s Lewis Center for
