Infinity earns first victory
The Newport-Mesa AYSO boys under-13 club soccer team Infinity opened
their spring soccer season with a 5-0 win over Gold Coast Xtreme
Saturday.
Juan Gonzalez scored two goals, both in the first half, while Sean
Davis, Erickson Klein and Jesse Perez also tallied goals for the
Infinity. Raymundo Sollano, Dillan Freiberg, Shane Rocco, Simon
Hedrick and Austin Webster contributed solid passing.
Zac Chocek, Rodri Ruvalcaba, Gavin Arblaster and Austin Wobrock
led the defense. Cameron Conway drew a penalty kick to assist on the
fifth goal.
In girls under-12 play:
* Newport Beach 1, Irvine 1
Courtney McIntosh buried a goal with just seconds to play to give
Newport Beach a 1-1 tie with Irvine Saturday. Nicole Baker centered
the pass to McIntosh, while Chelsea Barth, Beth Barnard and Ava
Nelson contributed in the goalie position.
The defense was led by Lauren D’Ippolito Morgan Williams, Meghan
Nance and Bri Truxton, while Kathryn Zimmermann, Megan Case, Kelly
Rorden, Sophie Evans and Christie Ohlhaver contributed solid passing.
In girls under-8 play:
* Purple Fire Girls, Blue Flames
The Purple Fire Girls were led by Natalie Ward with five goals.
Kaitlyn Hebert also scored, while Kate Hefner, Lindzy Konrad, Gigi
Woodall, Gaby Findlay, Katie Conway and Kara Carlson all contributed.
In girls under-6 play:
* Green Lightning, Purple Dolphins
Destry Comp, Julia Ackerman and Nicole Sanchez all scored in the
first quarter, while Lauren Henke and Ericka Ellis had solid
performances.
