Big Canyon Country Club’s Bob Lovejoy and Clint Whitehill finished in

a six-way tie for 16th in the Southern California PGA’s Senior-Junior

Championship March 28 at Rolling Hills Country Club in Palos Verdes

Estates.

Lovejoy and Whitehill, Big Canyon’s director of golf and head golf

professional, respectively, shot 1-under-par 69.

Ted Lehmann of Westlake Village Golf Course and Paul Marchewka

took first place by two strokes with a 63.

Ray Bewley and partner John Burgess won the net division title

while Sean Steele and Brendan Steele claimed top honors in the gross

category in a men’s guest day, termed the “Toshiba Challenge,” March

23 at Newport Beach Country Club.

Member Sean Steele and guest Brendan Steele shot a 1-under-par 70

to win by two strokes over Ron Hooven and Gary Voorhest in the one

best ball format played just three days following the final round of

the Toshiba Senior Classic, an annual PGA Champions Tour event held

at Newport Beach Country Club.

Bewley and Burgess shot 60 and won on a card-off over August

Younker and Jim Bacon, who also tallied 60.

Clarence Costa earned closest to the pin honors on the par-3 13th

hole after stopping his tee shot 1 foot, 8 inches from the cup during

the event.
