Local law firm

hires new lawyer

Newport Beach law firm Newmeyer & Dillion, LLP announced the

hiring of Louis K. Raymond, a former real estate attorney for the

Burbank-based Walt Disney Co.

While working for Disney, Raymond was responsible for issues

related to property acquisition, leasing and development, including

the retail leasing deals associated with the Downtown Disney

development in Anaheim.

Raymond earned his law degree from USC, after studying economics

at UCLA.

Executives inducted

into hall of fame

Two executives from two local firms were among seven professionals

named to the California Building Industry Hall of Fame.

Robert Duff, senior vice president with Newport Beach’s Fidelity

National Financial, and Larry Webb, chief executive officer of

Newport Beach’s John Laing Homes’ parent company, are scheduled to be

honored at the induction ceremony on May 31 in San Francisco. The

Hall of Fame is sponsored by the California Building Industry

Foundation.

Duff was named Associate of the Year by the National Assn. of Home

Builders in 1997 and has worked in a variety of roles in the real

estate business during his career. He also volunteers for the Special

Olympics, American Diabetes Assn. and American Cancer Society.

Webb won the Hearthstone Builder Lifetime Public Service Award

earlier this year for his philanthropic activities. He was also named

California Builder of the Year in 1996 and is a member of the

American Youth Soccer Assn. board of directors.
