Here are some items the Planning Commission will consider tonight:

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

Although the Planning Commission’s five members all have

experience serving the city, the current commission is still fairly

green -- the City Council appointed it about a month ago, and two

members have not been planning commissioners before.

On Monday, the commission will choose a chair and vice chair.

Those offices are currently held by Bruce Garlich and Bill Perkins,

respectively. The other planning commissioners are Eleanor Egan,

James Fisler and Donn Hall.

CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS PERMIT

A long-time lawnmower repair shop on West 19th Street near Placentia Avenue will become an office for a construction business if

the Planning Commission approves the necessary use permit. The

property owner plans to replace Faulkner’s Lawnmower Shop, which has

been in the building since 1980, with a construction business that

will store equipment in the back of the building.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Because that section of West 19th Street is largely commercial,

staff members think a construction office will be compatible with the

area. They recommend approval of the permit.

AUTO REPAIR BUSINESS PERMIT

A multi-unit industrial building on Logan Avenue between College

Avenue and McClintock Way will add a transmission repair business if

the commission approves the permit. Orange County Transmissions would

take over a 1,760-square-foot space in the building and operate from

8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Approval is recommended by staff members, who noted that the

building already includes another auto repair business and that the

closest homes are buffered from commercial activity by a wall.
