Park work continues through week’s rain
Despite the wet weather, work is continues on the long-awaited
skate park across from TeWinkle Park. Skate park workers Rafeal de
Jesus, Jose Vasquez, Raul Leal and Mario Rodriquez -- rain or no rain
-- last week laid concrete for the 15,000-square-foot park.
The park is scheduled to be finished in May and open to the public
in June.
* Community activist and former Costa Mesa Mayor Arlene Schafer
was named the 2005 woman of the year by 68th District Assemblyman Van
Tran on Wednesday. Tran recognized Schafer for her abundant civic
activities, which include her work as president of the Coast Mesa
Sanitary District board of directors and service on 21 other boards
and commissions.
