Two classes at Circle View Elementary were awarded a grand prize in
the sixth Time Warner Cable “Time 2 Write Seuss-Style” story writing
contest.
Mrs. Spiller’s fifth-grade class won for writing “Clarita Cletty
and the 499 Coats,” and Ms. Costello’s fourth-grade class won for
writing “Mr. Scadoodle’s Gazoodles.” The students were asked to
create, write and illustrate their own Dr. Seuss-style story.
Time Warner Cable holds the contest for schools within its Los
Angeles Division service area in support of the National Education
Assn.’s Read Across America campaign. Classes in kindergarten through
eighth grade were eligible to participate, and more than 90 entries
were received this year. The winning classes get to see their story
come to life by the MYART children’s theater group.
