Students to receive
Eagle Scout awards
Two students will be honored with Eagle Scout awards in a ceremony
at 1 p.m. Sunday at Elks Lodge in Newport Beach.
Matthew Hansen, a senior at Newport Harbor High School, cleaned
out and reorganized a storage shed inside the Environmental Nature
Center in Newport Beach for his final project.
He has received numerous merit badges in past years and served as
a past troop guide and senior patrol leader.
Hansen’s friend, Adam McCann, a 2004 Newport Harbor graduate and
UC Irvine freshman, will also receive an award.
For his project, he constructed a locking display cabinet that
houses the center’s book collection and built a log bench in the
amphitheater that will be used mostly during summer months.
