UCI drops 3rd in row
Host Clemson erupted for 10 runs in the first three innings and
cruised to a 10-2 win Sunday to sweep the three-game nonconference
baseball series with UC Irvine.
UCI senior starter Michael Koehler was rocked for eight earned
runs on six hits in 1 2/3 innings and three Tiger pitchers limited
the Anteaters to seven hits.
UCI (6-5), ranked No. 18 by Baseball America, scored single runs
in the third and fifth innings, but had no players with more than one
hit.
Clemson (4-2), delighted the home crowd of 2,691 by producing 13
hits, including home runs by starting pitcher Kris Harvey and Andy
D’Alessio.
UCI committed one error Sunday to finish the series with nine. UCI
has now made at least one error in six straight games, after posting
just one in their first five.
UCI returns to action Tuesday at 6 p.m. against visiting UNLV.
