Funds flow for local causes
An impressive check in the amount of $177,452 was presented by
Angelitos de Oro to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County
recently.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Director Pat Williams accepted the
donation, raised from the proceeds of the fourth annual Angelitos de
Oro Shopping Card event, in front of a cheering crowd that assembled
for the presentation.
The event takes place in early November, offering pre-holiday
shopping opportunities at some 100 participating South Coast Plaza
stores and restaurants. Organization members sell the Angelitos card
for $50, which is donated to the charity. Shoppers then receive a 20%
discount on regularly priced merchandise at the stores.
On hand for the check presentation was Angelitos President Brenda
Currie and card event co-chairs Pam Muzzy and Bonnie McClellan. Muzzy
is set to co-chair the 2005 event with Jayne Lally.
“Angelitos has donated nearly $3 million over the years in support
of Big Brothers Big Sisters,” Muzzy said. “We feel privileged to
continue the tradition of giving through the Angelitos card event.”

Dawn Tetrault, publicity rep for Newport Harbor Alumnae Chapter of
Delta Delta Delta reports that the organization is planning a major
event on April 23 called “The Rainbow of Hope” fashion show and
luncheon. The Balboa Bay Club & Resort will host the 21st annual
event for the group.
Over the holidays, 25 chapter members came together to work for a
variety of charitable causes associated with the Children’s Hospital
of Orange County and the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.
Newport Coast hostess Catherine Turkel opened her ocean-view home for
the patrons, helping to raise funds for children in need.
Some of the Newport Mesa ladies supporting the cause include Wendy
Schiff, Dawn Sather, Tamara Taggart, Jennifer Barth, Lisa Fisher,
Diann Leduc, Lisa Searles and Huntington Beach Mayor Jill Hardy.
The Orangewood PALS (Providing Assistance, Love and Support to the
children), assisted by the Orangewood Foundation, held a cocktail
party recently at the trendy new restaurant Ozumo at Fashion Island.
The sunset cocktail party attracted more than 100 PALS donors
supporting the event with the purchase of a $50 ticket to sample the
appetizers prepared and hosted by Ozumo. The upscale San
Francisco-based sushi bar and robata grill also features a
fashionable sake lounge that is the talk of the town.
The evening raised $5,000 for PALS.
