Publisher to chair Visitors Bureau

Daily Pilot publisher Thomas Johnson was named chairman of the

Newport Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau’s board of directors

Thursday. He is slated to serve a one-year term.

Johnson’s duties will include guiding and representing the bureau,

which seeks to attract business travelers and vacationers to Newport

Beach.

He said he expects to work during an exciting time for the hotel

industry in Newport Beach, citing renovation projects at Newport

hotels.

Jane Samson will remain forum president

The Orange County Forum, an association that hosts a series of

talks with high-profile speakers from government, business and

academics, announced last week that Jane Samson, a partner in the

Newport Beach law firm Newmeyer & Dillion LLP, was named the forum’s

president for the second year in a row.
