SPECIAL EVENTS
CAPPELLA CANTORUM
Cappella Cantorum, the young adult choir of St. John Vianney
Chapel, is beginning its fifth year. The choir is open to students in
grades six through 12. It provides active faith participation for
teens during their high school years. Participation includes singing
at mass regularly and at special events. Rehearsals are from 11 a.m.
to 1 p.m. Saturdays in the Chapel at 314 Marine Ave., Balboa Island.

ADVENT MONASTIC DAY
Abbot Francis Benedict, O.S.B., from St. Andrew’s Abbey in
Valyermo will lead an Advent Monastic Day from 8:30 a.m. 3 p.m. Dec.
4 at Our Lady Queen of Angels, 2046 Mar Vista Drive, Newport Beach.
The event will include a Mass, discussions and meditation. There is
no charge, but participants are asked to bring salad, cheese and
crackers, bread and butter, or dessert to share for lunch. For

SHABBAT 101
“Celebrations -- Shabbat 101,” will be a special discussion of
Shabbat traditions and observ- ance designed for young families. The

WORKSHOPS
EXPERIENCE MEDITATION
An Introduction to Zen workshop is being offered by the Zen Center
of Orange County on March 5 from 1 to 4 p.m. The workshop combines
experience in Zen meditation with small group instruction.
Participants will find answers to such questions as: What is Zen? How
does Zen relate to daily life? What is the relationship between
Christianity and Zen? The center is at 120 E. 18th St., Costa Mesa.

BAHAI FIRESIDES
Members of the Bahai faith hold informal public discussions on
spiritual topics at 11:30 a.m. the last Sunday of the month. The
talks include brunch or dinner. Also, interfaith devotional meetings

A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY
A 26-lesson study on the life of Jesus Christ titled “Journey to
the Cross” is taught at 9:45 a.m. Sundays during the Homebuilder’s
Bible Class at Liberty Baptist Church. The study parallels the four
Gospels to present the story of Christ. The church is at 1000 Bison

DREAM ON
The Adult Faith Formation at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in
Newport Beach holds a dream analysis group from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays

MEDITATION LESSONS
A free lectio divina meditation group meeting is held at 7:10 a.m.
Tuesdays at Our Lady Queen of Angels, 2046 Mar Vista Drive, Newport
Beach. Lectio is a style of meditation that includes using scripture
or a special reading as a stimulus. The Christian Meditation Group
meets from 7:30 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday at the center. The format
includes two periods of meditation with some instruction on how to
