School District winter break
Laguna Beach Unified School District schools will be on winter
break starting after school today and will resume classes Feb. 28.
School of Music presents Mobley
To celebrate black history month, Laguna School of Music will
present renowned African drummer Leon Mobley from 2 to 5 p.m. Feb.
26. Mobley is well known as the percussionist for “Ben Harper and the
Innocent Criminals.” He will be performing and instructing at a
seminar for the occasion. Mobley has performed with Mick Jagger,
Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, and taught djimbe drumming at the
Berkley College of Music.
Laguna School of Music is on Anneliese’s School Willowbrook
Campus, 20062 Laguna Canyon Road. Cost is $45 advance or $50 fee at

El Morro seeking ‘Jog-a-thon’ aid
The El Morro Elementary School PTA is seeking business sponsorship
and community donations for its annual Jog-a-than fundraiser March
18. Donations will support PTA funded educational programs, including
Math Challenge, Class Act, Art Masters, Colonial Days and Science on
the Go. All sponsorship donations will receive public recognition.

Help for Hope Concert
Laguna teen bands will perform in concert to raise money for
cancer research at the City of Hope from 4 to 6 p.m. March 13 at the
Festival of Arts’ Forum Theater, 650 Laguna Canyon Road.
The teens were motivated to raise money for cancer research,
having several friends and relatives with cancer who received help
from City of Hope. Refreshments will be available. For tickets,

St. Catherine of Siena news
St. Catherine’s congratulates its eighth-grade boys’ basketball
team for its undefeated regular season 10-0 record. The team is in
the Beach League/Parochial Athletic League playoffs. The team has
advanced by beating St. Anne’s of Santa Ana 37 to 20 on Tuesday. .

2004 Youths of the Year.
