Driver killed in collision
A Huntington Beach man was killed when his car veered off the road
and struck a parked car and a tree in the 5300 block of Sisson Drive
at 2:46 p.m. Thursday, police said.
Huntington Beach Police and Fire responded to the scene after
witnesses saw a vehicle driven by Geoffrey Lynn Dutton, 55, suddenly
speed up and go off the road and onto the sidewalk near Village View
School, police said. The single-car accident was not drug- or
alcohol-related, police said.
Dutton was transported to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, where he
died, police said.
Man dies after police chase
A 25 year-old man died Feb. 9 when his car struck a wall and
overturned in the 7800 block of Talbert Avenue at 10:04 p.m., after
leading police on a high speed chase that began in Santa Ana, police
said.
Santa Ana police attempted to stop the man because he was driving
without his lights on, police said. Instead of stopping, the driver
engaged police in a chase, reaching speeds of more than 90 mph, said
Sgt. Carlos Rojas of the Santa Ana Police Department.
The police car following the vehicle ended the pursuit when speeds
became too dangerous and the officer could no longer see the vehicle,
Rojas said. The police helicopter continued to track the vehicle,
Rojas said.
When the car crossed into Huntington Beach at Beach Boulevard, the
helicopter reported that the driver lost control, hit a wall and the
car flipped over, killing the driver instantly, police said.
The vehicle was no longer being pursued by police at the time of
the accident, police said.

A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed Monday night in the 8200
block of Indianapolis Avenue, police said.
At 7:54 p.m. Ehab Ahmed Eid, 33, of Huntington Beach was struck by
a car driven by Jeffrey Klauza, 49, of Huntington Beach, police said.
No charges were filed against Klauza, who was not injured in the
accident, police said. The cause of the accident is still under
investigation, police said.
