More rain is on the way

Newport-Mesa will likely see more rain this week, and this time
showers are expected to last through Saturday, according to the
National Weather Service.
The storm will mainly bring light rain showers, but there may be
occasional moderate to heavy rainfall, said Noel Isla, a forecaster
for the weather service. The heaviest rainfall is expected Wednesday
and again late Thursday and Friday.
The storm is expected to dump from one to three inches on the
coastal areas, Isla said.
“As of right now, there are no flood watches,” Isla said. But he
expects that there may be in the coming days.
Last week’s storm dropped more than an inch in about a day.
Chuck Doucot, a spotter for the weather service, said February is
always a wet time of year in Southern California.
“There’s going to be a burst Tuesday night and into Wednesday,”
Doucot said. “Then it’s going to tap more into sub-tropical moisture
Thursday and Friday.”
Doucot said it’s hard to say just how much moisture the storm,
which is coming from the north and being interrupted by the jet
stream, will bring later in the week.
