Lo Jack leads to car recovery
The signal from a LoJack anti-theft device led police to recover a
vehicle stolen from Huntington Beach near the Westminster Mall on
Saturday, police said.
Huntington Beach police helicopters picked up the signal near
Warner Avenue and Springdale Street at 9:56 p.m. and called in
neighboring police units from Westminster to aid in the pursuit,
police said.
The car, a green 1998 Honda Civic, was eventually stopped by
police near the mall and all three occupants, two juveniles and
Carlos Moreno, 18, of Westminster, were arrested on suspicion of auto
theft and possession of stolen property.
LoJack is a private security system company that installs tracking
devices in cars. When a vehicle is stolen, police can activate the
system and local law enforcement can pick up the signal, which can
ultimately lead them to the stolen vehicle.
