Drivers kept going
Laguna Beach police issued 25 citations and two written warnings
to motorists who failed to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk during
an undercover operation throughout Laguna on Saturday, police said.
Two disguised police officers, one wearing a rabbit costume, and
the other dressed in a brightly colored outfit with a large purple
hat, crossed city crosswalks in an effort to promote pedestrian
safety and crack down on those who fail to yield for crossing
pedestrians, police said.
The operation was conducted in crosswalks along Pacific Coast
Highway, on Laguna Canyon Road and in Downtown Laguna, police said.
The police department wanted to remind drivers that it is illegal
to drive through a crosswalk if people are legally crossing, police
said.
