Rebecca K. Gehrt

A memorial service was held Jan. 13 for former Costa Mesa resident

Rebecca Gehrt. Originally from Hawaii, Ms. Gehrt spent 28 years in

Costa Mesa, where she was the laundry manager at Fairview

Developmental Center.

Ms. Gehrt died Jan. 9 in Fountain Valley of metastatic

bronchogenic carcinoma.

She was 67. She is survived by her daughter, Maylinds Kepilino;

and her sons, Tracy, Alden and Michael Gehrt.

Harold ‘Hal’ J. Phillips

Private services will be held for former Newport Beach resident

Harold Phillips.

Originally from Glendale, Mr. Phillips lived for 25 years in

Newport Beach and worked for 30 years as a financial advisor for

Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Phillips was a member of the Lido Isle Yacht Club and served

as Race Committee chairman. He died Jan. 12 at his home in Forbes

Park, Colo., under hospice care. He was 79.

Mr. Phillips served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was

stationed in the Philippines.

He graduated in 1951 from the USC school of business. He was an

avid skier and enjoyed sailing and reading history texts.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Cynthia Phillips of Forbes

Park; his son, John Phillips of Maui, Hawaii; his daughter, Ann

Thornton of Laguna Beach; his brother, Russell Phillips of Port

Hadlock, Wash.; and nine grandchildren.

Anne T. Westgate

A memorial service for former Corona del Mar resident Anne T.

Westgatev was held Jan. 15 at Santa Ana Cemetery.

Originally from Houston, Ms. Westgate lived in Orange County for

94 years, including 55 years spent in Corona del Mar.

Her family came to Santa Ana by train in 1909.

Ms. Westgate was a world traveler, a former member of the Santa

Ana Assistance League and the longtime secretary of Comus Club.

She died Dec. 28 of natural causes in Mission Viejo. She was 97.

Ms. Westgate is survived by her daughters, Susan Whitev of Costa

Mesa, Victoria Westgatev of San Juan Capistrano; her son, Tevisv

Westgate Jr. of Corona del Mar; six grandchildren and four

great-grandchildren.
