Laguna seeks softball coaches
The Laguna Beach High athletic department has opened up a search
to land head coaches for its softball program at the varsity and
junior varsity levels.
The positions are open immediately.

Youth water polo teams win
The Laguna Beach 12-and-under girls’ and 14-and-under girls youth
water polo teams posted victories over Los Alamitos.
The 12-and-under team defeated Los Alamitos, 5-3, as Jessie
Holechek led Laguna in both scoring and steals.
The 14-and-under squad was an 11-4 winner over Los Alamitos.
Hannah Fait, Taylor Dodson and Anika Dries led Laguna, which
dominated the match.
At the 10-and-under “A” boys’ team level, Laguna fell to Los
Alamitos, 10-4. Trevor Collins and Nick Channels scored for Laguna.
Laguna’s 12-and-under boys and 14-and-under boys teams dropped
matches to Los Alamitos.
The Laguna youth water polo teams return to action Saturday by
hosting Newport Beach at the Laguna Beach High pool.
Five matches will be played between 1 and 5 p.m.
Junior Challenger tennis dates set
The Laguna Beach Junior Challenger has set up three upcoming
tournament dates for its 2005 Winter Series.
The first date is Sunday, Jan. 30, followed by dates of Feb. 13
and March 20.
The tournament will feature 2 1/2 hours of round robin singles
play.
Novice and advanced sections also could be offered, entries
permitting.
The cost is $25 per player.
Division play times are as follows: 8- and 10-and-under divisions,
noon to 2:30 p.m.; 12- and 14-and-under divisions, 2:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Each tournament will be played at Alta Laguna Park.
To register, players must contact the City of Laguna Beach’s
recreation department by Thursday prior to each tournament.
In addition, the Laguna Beach Junior Tennis League is seeking
players in the 10-, 12- and 14-and-under divisions, for its upcoming
season.

Soccer Club to hold tryouts
The Laguna Beach Soccer Club will be holding tryouts for quality,
committed club level soccer players at Moulton Meadows on March 5, 7,
9 and 12.
The tryout is open to boys and girls who play in divisions nine
through 12.

The club’s boys’ under-10 team won a Bronze South division
championship -- a first for the club -- during the 2004 season.
