Arts Commission seeking applicants
Newport Beach residents may submit applications to fill a vacancy
on the city’s Arts Commission. The person named to the post will
serve a vacant term set to expire June 30, 2006. Applications must be
submitted to the city by 4 p.m. Jan. 27.
The City Council is scheduled to nominate two candidates on Feb. 8
and select a new arts commissioner on Feb. 22. Applications are
available at the City Clerk’s office, 3300 Newport Blvd., Newport

Clear Channel exec to discuss media topics
The Orange County Ad Club will hold a luncheon today with Roy
Laughlin, regional vice president of Clear Channel Communications.
Laughlin oversees KIIS-FM, KFI-AM, KOST-FM, KBIG-FM and KSYR-FM.
He will discuss monopolies, censorship, “advertising clutter” and
nontraditional radio. The event will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
at the Hyatt Newporter, 1107 Jamboree Road, Newport Beach.
Admission will cost $35 for club members, $45 for nonmembers and
