d’oeuvres or bidding in a silent auction today at the Mesa Verde

Country Club in Costa Mesa. Festivities start at 3 p.m., immediately

after the 2005 Mesa Verde Golf Classic. The golf tournament, silent

and live auctions and a raffle all benefit Costa Mesa United, a group

of business, political and community leaders raising money to build a

swimming pool at Costa Mesa High School and a sports stadium at

Parents of nature lovers can help their children get their fix

this Wednesday. A park ranger will be on hand Wednesday at the Peter

and Mary Muth Interpretive Center at 2301 University Drive in Newport

Beach for an owl-themed event. The event will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m.

for 2- and 3-year-olds, and from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. for 3- and
