Resolutions requested of Congressman

While it’s nice that Congressman Cox takes time out of his busy

schedule to at least address in writing those problems of Newport Bay

that he has personally funded, it does not appear that Cox’s us

dollars have done much.

In fact, the dredging and silt problems have been ongoing, and

contrary to Cox’s comments, any remediation has been quite

ineffective. Another large problem that has not been addressed, that

I know of, is the water level of Newport Harbor. Over time, the depth

has lessened to the point that the median is about 7 feet throughout

the bay. I would like to see Congressman Cox address this issue as to

how the harbor can be dredged to satisfactory levels.

As an aside, and in conclusion, where was the distinguished

congressman when we were trying to secure an alternative airport at

El Toro? Absent without leave, and not a factor that I can see. Yet,

the money bags keep filling up. Could it be that those folks over

there in Irvine -- threatened by the noise of goodness knows what

types of aircraft -- were bigger political allies?
