Brady named PUMA All-American
Michael Brady, a Laguna Beach resident and senior at Santa
Margarita High, has recently been named as a 2005 PUMA Preseason High
School All-American.
He will travel to Tempe, Arizona and Tempe Diablo Stadium -- the
spring training home of the Anaheim Angels -- to participate in the
PUMA Preseason All-American Tournament.
The tournament runs today through Sunday.
Brady, a senior shortstop and right-handed pitcher, will enter his
third year as a varsity starter for the Eagles in the spring.
In 2004, he batted .358, had an ERA of 2.71, was named First Team
All-Serra League and helped guide Santa Margarita to its first league
baseball title.
He played last summer for the Dodger Elite Team and the OC Braves
Scout Team and was named the “Best Gloveman” during the Team One
Baseball National Tournament in Las Vegas.
He recently was chose as the nation’s 20th top high school middle
infielder by Team One Baseball.
Brady also is ranked fifth on Team One’s list of purest shortstops
for the 2005 baseball draft and is listed as one of Baseball
America’s 2005 High School Top Prospects.
Team One Baseball and Baseball Factory are two companies PUMA uses
to locate the top baseball players in the country to select their
preseason All-American team.
Professional scouts from Baseball Factory and Team One Baseball
selected players based on 2004 performances and from working with
more than 3,000 players nationwide last year.
Brady committed to Cal Berkeley in October.
