Musical robots to perform at UCI today

The League of Electronic Musical Urban Robots will perform at UC

Irvine today.

GuitarBot will be joined by technological percussionists the

ForestBots, TibetBot ModBots and !rBot, pronounced chick-are-bot. The

humans who created the robots will also be there. The 6 to 9 p.m.

event will be at the Beall Center for Art and Technology at UCI, near

the intersection of West Peltason and Pereira drives. Admission will

Students cook

up championship

Orange Coast College Culinary students won their sixth consecutive

state championship with their victory Sunday at the California State

Hot Food Competition, held at Orange Coast.

The team’s winning entry included sauteed golden trout and a beet

sampler salad for the appetizer, an entree with nut-crusted chicken

breast, followed by red wine poached pears for dessert.

The competition was judged by professional chefs from the American

Culinary Federation.

The team included Corona del Mar resident Thomas Sanborn.
