The National Junior Basketball fifth/sixth grade Newport-Mesa girls
Celtics defeated the Aqua Nets, 30-26, in a game played Jan. 2.
The Celtics were led by Saylor Schroff with 12 points, while Syd
Raguse, Sanna Taskinen and Angelique Plecas each had six points.
Ava Soleimany led the Aqua Nets with 15 points and Jasmine Izadi
had six.
* Wango Tango 14, Spirit 10
The Wango Tango defeated the Spirit, 14-10, with Sarah Cox and
Claire McKinnon each scoring three points. Aysia Andry scored nine
points for the Spirit.
* Epics 32, Storm 14
Melanie Arnold scored eight points to lead the Epics, while Mae
Ling Choquette and Natalie Barbaresi each had six points.
* Mustangs 22, Rim Rattlers 17
Samantha Archie had eight points for the Mustangs and was assisted
by Rikki Archie and A. Gushue, who scored four points each. Amanda
Parrill led the Rim Rattlers with seven points.
In games played Jan. 9:
* Rim Rattlers 30, Aqua Nets 24
The Rim Rattlers defeated the Aqua Nets, 30-24, Jan. 9, as Amanda
Parrill led the winners with 10 points. Marie Fitch, Taylor Stefano
and Gabby Carpenter each contributed four points. Ava Soleimany had
12 points to lead the Nets, while Jazmine Izadi had six.
* Celtics 19, Mustangs 15
Saylor Schroff led the Celtics with six points, while Niki Zak and
Sanna Taskinen each scored four points. Syd Raguse and Sanna Taskinen
led the Celtics’ defensve effort.
Katherine Thompson led the Mustangs with six points, while Rikki
Archie had four points and Sam Archie had numerous rebounds.
* Wango Tango 20, Storm 16
T. Shirikian led Wango with six points and was supported by Sarah
Cox, Marissa Hergott and Kate Lamas, all with four points. Duran
Sharp led the Storm with 14 points.
* Epics 17, Spirit 11
MacKenzie Dalton, Brit Brown and Mae Ling Choquette each had four
point for the Epics, while Sylvie Reynolds posted six points for the
Spirit.
