new Costa Mesa library at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Neighborhood
Community Center’s Fairview Room, 1845 Park Ave., Costa Mesa.
The Friends of the Costa Mesa Libraries will discuss plans for a
new library expected to have enough room to provide more and expanded

Breaking for dollars
A group of taekwondo students will hold a “Board Break-a-Thon”
Sunday to raise money for victims of last month’s tsunami.
Students at Marshall’s Taekwondo in Costa Mesa will be going into
the community this week to seek people to sponsor them for every
board they break. Students as young as 4 will break boards with their
hands and feet at Sunday’s event, organizers said.
The event will commence at noon at the martial arts school at 333
E. 17th St. in Costa Mesa. For more information, or to sponsor a
participant, call the school at (949) 631-8001.
