Basketball fundraiser to feature actress

The Laguna Beach High girls’ basketball program will hold a

fundraising event Jan. 7 that will include Tony award-winning actress

and singer Susan Egan.

Egan will travel to Laguna Beach from New York City for a “one

night only” performance the school’s Artists Theatre, at 625 Park

Ave. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Egan, who has many credits to her acting and singing resume, is

most notably known for her role as “Belle” in the production of

“Beauty and the Beast,” and recently has come off a run playing

“Millie” in the musical, “Thoroughly Modern Millie” on Broadway.

Ticket prices for the fundraiser are as follows: premium seating,

$50; general, $35 and child/senior citizen, $20.

Laguna poloists second in poll

The Laguna Beach High girls’ water polo team is ranked second in

the CIF-Southern Section Division II poll.

The Breakers, who next take the pool Jan. 6 to 8 at a major

tournament in Santa Barbara, trail top-ranked and Pacific Coast

League rival Corona del Mar in the rankings.

Another Pacific Coast League team, University, comes in at No. 9.

The rest of the top 10 includes No. 3 Villa Park, No. 4 Peninsula,

No. 5 La Habra, No. 6 Tustin, No. 7 Sunny Hills, No. 8 Mira Costa and

No. 10 Fullerton.
