Courtesy Auto Body takes title

Courtesy Auto Body won the Tuesday League championship of the city’s

fall 16” slow pitch softball play by virtue of a forfeit win and an

upset of a league rival.

Courtesy Auto Body’s record improved to 7-2-1 after the team received a forfeit win from Ganahl Lumber, which couldn’t field a

team due to a lack of players.

That forfeit, combined with the C-Dawgs’ 3-2 win over Team Viagra,

gave Courtesy Auto Body sole possession of first-place.

Courtesy Auto Body’s championship team included Bob Armstrong,

Scott Bakkum, Emilio Bernal, Morgan Burgess, Paul Corey, Jeff

Greenough, Sheldon Karash, Morgan Kruger, Matt Kuerra, Chuck

Maretzler, Steve McKinlay, Dave Meggison and Jeff Pich.

Courtesy’s only loss came via a forfeit, and it was tied, 9-9, by

Sandpiper.

C-Dawgs 3, Team Viagra 2

Frank Fanieri and John Mallet pieced together back-to-back home

runs in the first inning as the C-Dawgs upset Team Viagra to win for

the fourth time in their last five games.

Pat Alexander, however, delivered the game-winning RBI single for

the C-Dawgs, his hit scoring Ranieri in the third inning.

Ranieri finished the game with three singles in addition to his

home run.

Glenn Cecil singled and scored and Greg Shiu homered in the

seventh inning for Team Viagra.

Sandpiper 11, Good, Bad and Ugly 5

Sandpiper, whose only two league losses were one-run defeats to

Courtesy Auto Body and Team Viagra, wrapped up second-place by

winning its third straight game.

Ryan Neptune turned in a six-RBI, two home run performance for

Sandpiper.

Mike McLean hit a three-run home run and Jeff Heminghaus and David

Sommerville each lined a pair of singles for the winners.

Fred Mastin’s home run and single led Good, Bad and Ugly.

Tuesday League standings (final): 1. Courtesy Auto Body, 7-2-1; 2.

Sandpiper, 6-2-2; 3. Team Viagra, 6-3-1; 4. C-Dawgs, 4-6; 5. Ganahl

Lumber, 3-7; 6. Good, Bad and Ugly, 2-8.
