Timmy Reyes, 22, of Huntington Beach, has secured a berth on
surfing’s 2005 World Championship Tour. Reyes is a member of Team
O’Neill and won his spot on the tour during the O’Neill World Cup of
Surfing on Oahu’s North shore. Reyes is Surf City’s first
representative on professional surfing’s grand prix since 1996. Reyes
graduated from Sowers Middle School and attended Edison High School,
both in Huntington Beach. As a senior at Edison, Reyes captured the
High School Men’s state crown ... Army Pvt. Lisa I. Utsinger
graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, Utsinger studied the Army mission
and learned basic combat skills, drill and ceremony, rifle
marksmanship, field tactics, military courtesy, basic first aid and
participated in field training exercises. Utsinger’s father is Robert
Utsinger of Chaffee, N.Y., and her aunt is Laura Steinbach of
Huntington Beach ... Air Force Senior Airman Michael J. Krueger was
decorated with the Air Force Commendation Medal for participating in
Operation Iraqi Freedom. The medal is awarded to those individuals
who demonstrate outstanding achievement or service while performing
duties on behalf of the Air Force. Krueger is a tactical satellite
system operations craftsman assigned to the 235th Signal Company.
Krueger is the son of Robert P. Krueger of Huntington Beach and a
1991 graduate of California Lutheran High School in Huntington Beach.
