Greenlight spokesman just doesn’t get it

Regarding “Greenlight challenges proposed changes,” Daily Pilot,
Wednesday, it is disappointing that after a number of e-mail
exchanges, slow-growth Greenlight leader Phil Arst refuses to
understand the process.
The general plan has to balance a number of conflicting demands.
In addition to the desire of residents to minimize traffic impacts
and preserve open space, there is a requirement that the city meet
its share of regional housing needs.
To achieve this balance, the General Plan Advisory Committee has
come up with a number of options -- not proposals -- for different
areas of the city.
Traffic studies will be done on these options -- not proposals --
so that the committee can evaluate their impacts and see which of the
options -- not proposals -- are viable. Only at this point will any
option become a proposal that will be presented to the Planning
Commission, the City Council and to the residents for their
evaluation -- and a proposal could be to make no changes to a
particular area.
