Police investigating bomb threat to high school
Laguna Beach High School was evacuated and remained closed for the
day after the school obtained information about a bomb threat at
10:26 a.m. Friday, police said.
After receiving a telephone call about an impending explosion, the
high school called 911 and the Laguna Beach Police Department
responded with all units, along with the Orange County Sheriff’s
Department Bomb Squad, police said.
The bomb squad brought in two bomb-sniffing dogs and conducted a
room by room search, but did not find any explosives, Capt. Danell
Adams said.
The students were evacuated to the football field until police
determined it was safe to go elsewhere, police said.
“Everybody was really good about following instructions,” Adams
said.
The identity of the caller who delivered the bomb threat is
unknown at this time, but police said they are following several
leads.
“It’s a very serious offense,” Adams said. “It’s like going on a
plane and making a threat about a bomb.”
“We’re going to be relentless on this,” Adams said.
