Code Red eliminated by Stars

California Futbol Club Code Red girls’ Under-13 bronze club team’s
run in the Coast Soccer League Cup tournament came to an end with the
3-1 loss to the Claremont Stars at San Bernardino.
Down 1-0, Code Red came back to tie the game just before the half
on a long shot by Ashley Haprov, which sailed just out of the
goalie’s reach and into the net.
The teams exchanged volleys in second half action, but two quick
goals in the last few minutes by the Stars enabled them to clinch the
3-1 win.
Code Red, coached by Ron Budd and Dale Hensley, will next compete
at the State Cup Tournament in February.
Code Red captured first-place in the Bronze Division of the
tournament, then qualified for the Round of 32 by virtue of allowing
the fewest amount of goals in round two action.
They entered the round of 32 after fighting the Wolfpack to a 1-1
tie. Late in the game, Code Red’s Lauren Hanson trapped Alison
Hensley’s corner kick, turned and delivered the ball into the corner
of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
