South Huntington Beach holds girls’ softball registration

The South Huntington Beach Girls Softball league will hold its

final weekend of registration sessions for its upcoming 2005 spring

season Saturday and Sunday .

Registration will take place between noon and 4 p.m. on Dec. 11,

and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 12 at Lampost Pizza located at

Brookhurst Street and Adams Avenue in Huntington Beach.

Free slice of pizza and small drink will be given to all players

who sign up at the November and December dates.

Field evaluations will be held on Sat., Jan. 8, 2005, at Edison

Community Park Fields in Huntington Beach.

The league draws players from Huntington Beach and the surrounding

areas of Costa Mesa, Westminster, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove,

Newport Beach and Seal Beach and is open to players ages 5 to 18.

South Huntington Beach Girls’ Softball is a member of the

nationally recognized Amateur Softball Assn. (ASA) and is a

volunteer-driven, nonprofit youth softball organization whose goal is

to develop, direct and promote the sport.

Basketball registration to be held Saturday

Registration for the city of Huntington Beach winter youth

basketball begins Saturday at three Surf City locations.

Registration will be taken at Murdy Park, Edison Community Center

and the City Gym and Pool (960-8884).

The league is open to players ages three-to-five and boys and

girls grades first through eighth. Evaluations begin January 8, 2005.

A Shooting Stars League for kids with special needs, ages 11-21,

also will be offered at a cost of $40 per player.
