Favorite golf moment: When a spectator who watched Smoot and

husband Phil finish the par-4 18th hole at Castlerock Golf Club in

Ireland appeared on the green and gave Colleen Smoot a hug after she

parred the hole during a visit about four years ago. Smoot did not

know the man, whom she said was a member of the club. “The approach

shot is what made him notice. Then he walked out and watched the

putt,” Colleen Smoot said. “He said, ‘Fine job lassie.’”

Favorite course played: Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore.

Hobbies outside of golf: Bridge, travel

Family: Husband, Phil; daughter, Kathy Danskin; son, Dan Smoot;

Noteworthy: Tallied two holes-in-one on Newport Beach Country

Club’s fourth hole, the most recent coming Aug. 19, her daughter’s

birthday. Used a 6-iron to the back flag location. Said it hit and

rolled in with witnesses Judi Osbourne, Jeanne Lewand and Karen

Scagliotti looking on ... Her first hole-in-one on the hole came two

years earlier ... She and Phil won the club’s annual Halloween-themed

tournament, the Ghosts and Goblins, about four years ago ... Plays

three times a week ... Began playing golf five years ago, when she

joined Newport Beach Country Club ... Attended Chaffey High in

Ontario ... Taught at an elementary school at one point.
